Her is a touching sci-fi romance movie starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson. Have you seen it?
Her is based on a romantic relationship between a guy and his computer operating system. I know it sounds weird, but this movie was nothing like I have ever seen.
Her is a movie about a lonely writer
who works as a personal letter writer for people who need touching
letters written. The movie is set in Los Angeles in the future and
the story is mainly about Theodore Twombly's (played by Joaquin
Phoenix) romance with his new operating system. He is heartbroken
already, because his marriage is going through a divorce, so when he
starts to speak to his new operating system he becomes fascinated by
the voice of a female (voiced by Scarlett Johansson). He calls his
operating system Samantha who is just a computer, but to Theodore she
seems real. She makes him laugh and it helps him to feel better.
The relationship starts to evolve, which brings him a great amount of
pleasure and love, which he thought he would never have again.
Samantha has a bright and beautiful voice, which Theodore finds
sensitive, funny and exciting. Samantha is very clever and seems to
know him very well, which brings Theodore peace at last. Of course,
things start to go wrong and Theodore starts to question himself.
I found Her to be a deeply moving
story. I was fascinated by the futuristic feel to this movie and the
way it developed into a romantic story. Joaquin Phoenix plays
Theodore very well, which made the story immensely believable. The
voice of Samantha by Scarlett Johannsson was played with a great
amount of passion, which had me hooked to this movie right to the
very end.
If you enjoy unusual romantic stories
set in the future, then you will enjoy Her. It is a kind of sci-fi
movie with a romantic comedy feel to it. It was written and directed
by Spike Jonze who really did do it justice.
I recommend Her to anyone who likes watching unusual romantic movies. It is definitely worthwhile seeing it.
I Her rate it 9
out of 10.
Watch the movie trailer of Her below:
It feels a bit empty and vacuous as it probably is attempting to show the emptiness of modern life, either way it is fairly boring
